Heeding the Call

St. John the Evangelist Church has initiated a new shared ministry program: Heeding the Call.

Heeding the Call is designed to bring parishioners together in action as the gathered church to move and inspire our fellow parishioners through a wide variety of volunteer ministries. These ministries include long-established volunteer opportunities, such as lectoring, visitation to the homebound, religious education and music, and many others, as well as new and developing ministries that will arise according to the needs of our parish, our parishioners and our community.

Directing the program is Alice Browar with staff support by Kerry Paquette. They will coordinate all volunteer activities of the parish, in concert with individual ministry coordinators.

Heeding the Call provides an outline for recruiting, training and retaining parishioners in shared volunteer ministries. The program is designed to help parishioners to discover, develop and use their many gifts to help others, and to inspire fellow parishioners to proclaim, teach, worship, love, witness and serve.
